Small Discovery Sport With Four-Cylinders Just Towed A 100-ton Train

Jaguar and Land Rover are trying as hard as they can to prove the world their cars are awesome and advanced. They revealed some videos previously showing the capabilities their engineering team can come up with but the latest video shows something even more amazing – the Land Rover Discovery Sport with a four-cylinder engine is pushed to the extremes when it was hitched with three luxury train carriages weighing more than 100 tons (200,000 lbs). Yes, the small Discovery Sport had to pull them.

The most amazing thing is the fact that this particular Discovery Sport is powered by a small four-cylinder Ingenium engine. The one under the bonnet develops 180 hp and 430 Nm of torque. This is far from something you would expect to pull a massive train, but here it is. Helping the tiny engine is technology such as Terrain Response, Tow Assist, Tow Hitch Assist, and All-Terrain Progress Control. The demonstration took place through the Rhine region of northern Switzerland. Land Rover Discovery Sport had to tow the train for 10 kilometers. The car is amazing. It ventured out to the rails stock only with the rail wheels installed by Aquarius Railroad Technologies. Other features include standard nine-speed automatic transmission. This means the car is not even rigged with the low gearing setup which would be great for this occasion. Nevertheless, this only proves that power levels cars of today dispose of are much more than any of us really need. Discovery Sport is an awesome machine.
